fragments of existence in sound. audio recordings of busy stations, spoken text, sound of streams and rivers and so on, I translate into musical notes. these are punched into music cards for a mechanical music box. by turning the crank, the sounds of the original audio file become audible. due to the technical properties of the music box, no exact conversion is possible. the instrument uses a diatonic scale and has a range of just under three octaves. the score has therefore been adapted to make the composition feasible within these limitations.
